Im just your average gal. Nothing overly special or out of the ordinaty about me, right? Sure, sure... My story begins much like everyone else. I grew up in a middle class household, have an amazing set of loving parents, and 3 older siblings that always brought out to best and worst in me. I have lived within a 20 square mile radius of my current home my whole life, and it seems to be a descent enough place to settle down and raise my own family - whenever that day comes.
When I was younger I absolutely loved school - so much infact, that I wanted to become a teacher just so I would be able to be in school forever. My how things change! I was very studious and always received good grades. My Freshman year of highschool my parents decided, in an effort to spend a few more precious moments with their teenage wanna-be adult children, to homeschool us. After two and a half years of homeschool, at the age of 17 I got my GED and enrolled in my first semester at the local community college - LMC. Realizing I was smart enough to pass the classes, with good grades I might add, I decided to transfer to Southern Adventist University in January of 2007 to pursue my degree in Nursing.
Over the course of the next 3 years at Southern I made some of the most valueable friendships and experienced some of the most amazing things in my life thus far. Nursing school brought many challenges and hard times, but also some of the funniest and most incredible situations. On December 14 2009 I graduated with honors from Nursing and exactly one month later I took and passed the infamous NCLEX-RN Exam, earning me my Registered Nurse License.
I returned home to Michigan on the 17th of January full of energy, and eager to start my career. Two weeks later I discovered and become one with "Autoimmune Abbey".
The eventual focus of my blog is to write about the in's and out's of my often comical and challenging daily life while dealing with an Autoimmune Disease. My next few blogs will outline my disease to give you a better understanding of what im personally dealing with, and make it easier for you to understand the stories I have to share!
Yay! Welcome to the blog world!!! And such a beautiful post - great introduction to yourself!!! Keep 'em coming!
